Turns out it was my graphics driver that needed to be re-installed. Now
all is well.

How did you ever find that out? Was it from TT support?

No, I was on the phone for a long time with TT support and they tried
many things nothing of which worked and left me with the info I will
contacted when they find a solution. ;-).

I Knew from my XP experience that when I had modified how text was shown
on my display that it gave Quicken display problems. I also knew that
Quicken (and therefore maybe TT) use Flash. So I contacted my laptop
support (this is a 1 week old laptop running W 7 64 bit) and asked for
the latest Flash and video drivers. Re-installing flash did nothing,
but re-installing my video driver solved the problem. So my earlier
video driver must have been corrupted or have some other problem.

I reported back in case someone else had the same problem and did not
want to leave the impression that W 7 had problems running in W 7 64 bit
- which my original question suggested.

Hi, Jeff.

Glad you got it fixed. ;<)

About Flash on a 64-bit computer...

Have you seen Adobe's TechNote about this? Go to:
Flash Player support on 64-bit operating systems
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/000/6b3af6c9.html

"To use Flash Player to view Flash content on a 64-bit operating system, you
must run a 32-bit browser."

Fortunately, as you probably know, Windows 7 x64 versions come with BOTH
32-bit and 64-bit versions of IE8 installed. The 32-bit version runs, by
default, even in 64-bit Windows, so most users will have no problems running
Flash in Win7.

Too bad Adobe is still living in the 20th Century. :>(
