I think there has inadvertanly been lack of clarification/info on
this topic.
The windows repair disc for win 7 has multiple purposes.
1. It can repair corrupted installations.
2. It can restore an image created by Windows.
3. I believe,(I have not tried it) that it can restore files from
backups made with windows.
For restoring images the steps would be
1. Create the repair disk
2. Create the image
3. Restore the image as needed.
If you have a Seagate, Maxtor or Western Digital drive you can
obtain Acronis Imaging software for free at the respective mfg's web
site. The advantage of Acronis is it works on all versions of
Windows (FAT16, FAT32 or NTFS) not just WIN7.
Cheers
