We are trying to build a Kiosk machine with only IE.
is ther any way i can disable the drop down buttons of Print (that is Print,
Print Preview, Page setup) option.

or is there a way to disable the 'Preferences' button to be disabled for
users.

I am using VISTA Sp1,
IE7.

Hi,

OS version and Service Pack level and IE version?

Normally you create a separate User Account (Guest privileges) and then fire
up GPEdit as Administrator and change that account under the User node in
GPEdit.

If IE8, don't forget to disable the Developer Tool.

Hold it..... if you want a Kiosk IE application then you use the -k command
line parameter. eg. iexplore.exe -k http://mywebsite.com/homepage.htm
Place this command in the Guest users Programs>Startup folder.

Kiosk mode displays full screen with no IE chrome (no toolbar or menus or
tabbed browsing), but you still have to use GPEdit to disable some of your
Shell functions (Start button, Shutdown buttons etc) AND (!important) the
IE8 Developer Tool (otherwise a savvy user like me could hack your Kiosk IE,
by pressing F12 and then using the script console to navigate where-ever
they wanted viz. malware injection site) or you can use the Content Advisor
(Internet Options) to only white list your site.

There used to be a Public PC lockdown kit available from MS. Some of my
colleagues here may add to that suggestion.

Regards.

Sorry. I did not see your OS and IE versions in your post. My suggestions
still apply to that environment. Oh. and of coarse make sure you turn off
Windows Updates, otherwise IE8 may be installed without you knowing it.

Regards.
