Mozilla have their own repository which you can add to your list in
Ubuntu - that will download and auto-update the latest releases.
However, I wouldn't bother (under Ubuntu or Win7). I've used Thunderbird
since the early days, but I have just moved to Outlook because 3.0.3 is
such a flaky version - possibly the worst they ever released.
