i WAS GOING To ask the same thing. When I first got dsl and needed a
network port, I bought and installed a card and it worked fine. 6
months later something else went wrong and a secondary problem became
the network card. Installing it again with the same software off the
CD that came with it, that I used the first time, didn't work.
Downloading a new driver worked.

Of course my card didnt work at all, but I think anything like that is
possible.
