If you can't boot to disk
It may be that your BIOS set's to boot from Hard Drive first
Go into BIOS
Usually F2 on start up
and switch the order of boot preference to CD-ROM before HD
and then you should be able to boot to CD

tried that.. it wont boot at all.. i put a different hard drive in.. and it
works.. it just keeps going thru the safemode loop when i have my harddrive
in. when i go to boot it just keeps doing it over and over or gives me the
bsod. tried a diff. hd with windows 98 on it which was a 4g hd and it booted
right up. it just isnt working when i have my xp hd in there.. my brother in
law is having the same issue along with 4 other people we know.. they all had
to get new hd. and now their pcs are working.

It shouldn't be necessary to put out a broad spectrum announcement, not
everybody has been affected, my system took the updates and boots just fine.

I still have yet to have any of my Clients PC's Report this
and they run 98% of XP....

Try this Leave the HD Completely out and put the CD in
(It should BOOT to CD
or ask you to hit a key)

It should find the CDRom and Boot to it.
If it doesn't find your CDROM and you've changed the BIOS to boot from the
CD
then you have some how fix that to try the fix.

On the others?
You said they have replaced the HD already?

Seems a little extreme..
They couldn't boot from a CD either?
Russ

people who cant boot from cd like myself & a few other people i know after
that update. we all have that issue, so were stuck in the same boat as the
people with the netbooks.. because its basically like we have no cd drive to
boot from.. Ive tried every cd drive i have in my house, which is 8. and no
matter which one i do, it wont work, i tried without hard drive, and it wont
work. but my pc works perfectly fine, with a diff hd in it..

So you say that you place "a diff hd in it" and it will then boot from the
CD?

A simple yes or no will suffice.

Hmm...

What I saw is above.

Did you see something different than your direct question (snipped by you
with specific instructions on how you wished the answer given) and then the
answer (given in the requested format)?

Or is this a top vs. bottom posting troll?
