Quick Launch

In XP, my Quick Launch bar sat on the left side of the taskbar and had an IE
icon, a Show Desktop icon and Outlook Express icon. This allowed me to open
as many IE windows as I wanted.
In Windows 7, I have an IE icon pinned to the taskbar, but when I click on
it, the program opens in THAT icon, rather than opening a text box
independently in another part of the taskbar. The IE icon is now "being
used" and I don't have another one with which to open another IE window.
I've gone to Taskbar Properties and tried "Never combine", "Combine when
taskbar is full" and "Always combine, hide labels" options, but don't see
any difference between them.
How can I get an IE icon to always be available on the taskbar?

I don't use tabs, so YMMV.

In IE: Tools | Internet Options | Browsing Section. Uncheck: "Reuse
windows..........".

I didn't like the Pin to Taskbar idea, do I put the Quick Launch back.

I Want My Quick Launch Toolbar Back!

Got it. Worked like a charm. Thank you!!!! I don't like tabs or pinning
either.

Hold shift button as you click on icon and you can keep opening more IE
windows from icon on taskbar, then pick and choose between them from
mini-images.

Thanks for that tip! I didn't like the pin to taskbar either, the icons
take up too much space IMHO.

Same here. I just go through restoring my quick launch bar on the
left side next to the (unnamed) Start button. I'm hoping now when
I turn off my computer, the settings aren't lost. I hate "pin to
taskbar." What a dumb idea that is -- who at Microsoft thought it
was a good idea?

I haven't a clue... Though the good news is that once you have enabled the
Quick Launch toolbar again, it does show up when you reboot. Now if I could
just find a way to hide WLMessenger in the taskbar, I'll be as happy as a
pig in mud. :)
