Q about win7 Start menu

F

Fam Højrup

Flightless Bird
I LOVE WIN 7
But
I HATE THE NEW START MENU

Want to run it the classic way
Have tryed some programs who "fix" it to classic
But it must be possible to run the orginal one from MS Vista ?
I´s it some way possible to replace the one from Win Vista into W7 ?
Mean find the start menu folder(s) or files in Vista on another comp whit
Vista and copy/store them on a Usb stick.
Then delete the Win 7 start menu and replace folder and files whit them from
Vista ?
Yes ?
No ?
If yes, where do I find the files ?

I did it whit the Windows Mail klient from Vista " also Outlook Express from
XP runs on W7
Windows Mail is now running on my Win 7 "who do not have a mail programm"
( only the Mail Live stuff )

Hope to hear some responce :)

You are not the only one who hates what Microsoft did to Windows 7. Change
for the sake of change is not always a good thing.

If you want the good old fashioned but still highly functional start menu,
try this:

http://classicshell.sourceforge.net/

I also use the "classic explorer" because like many people, I totally don't
get why Microsoft removed the "up" button from the toolbar, other then they
figured we should do things the way they want us to, not the way we want
</sarcasm> (I'm no Microsoft lover, in case you can't tell).

You can have it trigger when you click the start button and press the
Windows key, or you can set it to an alternate keystroke so you can have
both the classic start menu, and the Win7 start menu. I set mine to alt-Z,
so I get the best of both worlds.

If you want the newer style that started with XP, not the "classic"
style...can't help you...maybe someone else knows how to get that back?

Many thanks for this:) I shall be trying it out. I tried out the 'classic'
desktop but didn't like it. I think I might like this better:)

I'm using the XP-style classic menu version 3.1 from here:
http://usuarios.multimania.es/coreaffinity/classicwinstartmenu.htm

Evidently some malware has come from other sites hosted by
usuarios.multimania.es, and the latter may be tagged or blocked by internet
security progs. I have no problem with classicwinstartmenu..

Everything from drive-by downloads to phishing attempts:

Yep. I run NIS2010 and that's why I pay no attention to Safe Web. It's too
easy to come up with false positives. If multimania.es hosts 1000 different
websites, of which some are associated with malware, Safe Web will flag it
as unsafe, even though the vast majority are safe. You might as well flag
Google.com as unsafe for for pointing to those sites.

I had that problem but there is a link on that page to go direct to the .exe
file.
