program corrupted default settings for search engine

I have a dell dimension 2400 running Windows XP. It's an an unknown program
corrupting the settings in Internet Explorer 8 for "Bing". I need some help
fixing this. I'm not an expert . Thank you for any help you can give

Do you have any Google utilities installed? I think that they may try to
make Google web search a default. If so you could try uninstalling them or
at least disabling them to see if your symptoms change as a result.

If you just want to get rid of the message and see what happens otherwise,
you could try using the Manage Search Providers command in the dropdown list
in the Search bar (e.g. Ctrl-e,Tab,CursorDown, CursorUp, Enter as one simple
way to access that dialog). Then uncheck the box Prevent programs from
suggesting changes to my default search provider (e.g. press Alt-r in that
dialog).
