Every time I click on a link to send a message to someone, a box pops up with
their name in it and a place to write the message. It looks like I have
access to all of the same features I would have if I were using my Word
program.

Then, a box pops up, telling me to enter my 25 digit Office 2007 Product
code. I had installed the Office Home and Student 2007 edition, so I entered
and reentered and reentered the code, only to have the system tell me it is
the wrong code. I can click on the Key box to cancel the process,and I can
still eventually send the message. However, the system punishes me by making
me verify that, yes, i want to cancel, yes I want to continue, yes . .

How do I stop this?

Sounds like your machine is infected with a virus. Since the box asks you
for an MS Office rather than a Windows key, the experts in an MS Office
newsgroup would be able to confirm the virus suspicion.

Did your PC have a trial version of Office that you failed to uninstall
prior to installing your paid for version?

I appreciate your situation, however this newsgroup is for XP general
questions only, try an office group.
one question, did you have a trial version of office installed and not
activated when you installed the purchased Office 2007 version, if so, you
will have to remove both, and then reinstall your purchsed office 2007
package, as it's in conflict with the trial version.

Office 2007 Home and Student does NOT include Outlook. If you wanted
Outlook, you bought the wrong edition of Office 2007.

Either a new-mail compose window is opening for Outlook Express or some
other e-mail client that you installed, or perhaps you install a trial
version that included Outlook but forgot to uninstall it before installing a
non-trial version (which did not include Outlook).

EeePC came with a trial version of Office 2007, I entered my Home and
Students key in that trial version and it worked perfectly, I didn't have
to uninstall the trial and install from my Office DVD which would have been
a problem since the EeePC doesn't have a DVD reader.

That's fine if you do that - the problems arise when there is a trial
version installed and the user then installs a paid-for version without
removing the trial....

And, then, what if the program has to be reinstalled for some reason, say,
the computer is reformated ;-)

The Eee has a recovery partition, you reinstall from there, it will
reinstall the trial and you reenter the key for Office.

Anyway I bought an external DVD burner since then so...
