problems with installing Office 2007: language

Hello,

I have tried installing my English version of Office 2007 Standard several
times now, but every time it installs as a German version.

I had a trial version of Office 2007 Home and Student which was in German,
but even after deleting that, the Standard version won't install in English.
The setup process is in English, the folders on the cd all have en.us in
their names, but the actual programs once installed are all in German.

I suspect that it has to do with the trial version, but I don't know what to
change/do. I also have MS Works on my laptop (came with the laptop), maybe
that could be a reason, too?

Thanks in advance for any helpful hints!

I have a couple of possible solutions for you.

First, open your "Microsoft Office Language Settings" application, which you
will find in your start menu under Microsoft Office Tools. In the list of
"display languages", make sure English is at the very top.

If you don't see display languages there, or if English is already at the
top when you get there, then go to your Windows Control Panel and uninstall
Office 2007 German. If your English 2007 doesn't start working right away
after you uninstall the German, then try re-installing the English version
one more time.

I think your hunch was right - it's probably something to do with leftover
bits of your German version. Removing it entirely via the Control Panel
should clear things up.
