Problem with keys

Only for the last couple of days, my Page Up, Page Down and all 4 arrows
keys on the keyboard have not had any effect when viewing any website. The
sidebar does still work normally.
I'm not aware I've altered any settings. So I apologise if this is a
problem with IE rather than WindowsXP, but would appreciate any advice on
getting these keys working again.

The first step in such cases is to test things with the on-screen keyboard,
osk.exe.
The second step is to try a different keyboard.

could also see if keys do nothing when in notepad or something other than ie (even a
folder in explorer)
startup notepad. fill the window with a lot of enter keys, but intersperse with a few
"random" letters. once the typing becomes long enough, try the up down etc keys.

since more than one key has trouble, i doubt the problem is caused by bits of junk
between the keys (toast crumbs!), but that would be easy to fix...
