Problem copy/pasting images from IE8 to MS Office 2007

I've got a weird problem that just started happening last week on one
of my PCs (running Vista Home Premium).

If I copy an image from IE8, and paste it into MS Office (Word, PPT,
Outlook) the first one works fine, but then when I paste subsequent
images, I get a copy of the first one. I'm not sure how to clear the
clipboard, but I don't think that's even the problem. It gets more
weird...

When I paste the second time (or any subsequent copy/pastes after the
first), it knows the size of whatever item I copied to the clipboard,
but it pastes the first image distorted into that size!

Here's just one example: say I copied an article from a blog that
contains images and paste it into Word. All the images that appear
will be the same one, but they will be different shapes and sizes. The
texts pastes just fine.

If I close the program and reopen it, it starts over. I get another
chance to paste an image, but the subsequent ones are the same.

Same goes between programs. E.g., even if it's pasting the same image
in PowerPoint, if I open Word and paste it, I get the correct image.
But only the first time, then it repeats that one. It's just bizaare.

And it's only between IE8 and MS Office 2007. I've tried copy/paste in
other programs and it works just fine.

Any ideas? Please help, it's driving me nuts and it's a time-consuming
nightmare!

And yes, I've tried rebooting.

If you save the document, reboot and re-open the document, are the images
still 'bad'? If not, I'd check video drivers.

What if you copy from IE 8 and paste into Wordpad or a NON-Office
application?

What if you copy from Firefox and paste into Word?

(trying to see if it's a problem with IE or with Office)

Can you identify anything that might have changed on this system during that
time?

You could try re-installing both IE and Office (repairing the installation).

I hadn't thought of the video drivers, but no, that's not it. If I
save, close, reboot and open it again, the images are still wrong.

It's just Office 2007. I can paste into Photoshop or even PowerPoint
2003 no problem, but not Word, Outlook, or PowerPoint 2007.

I do not have Firefox installed, however I tried Google Chrome. Same
problem (almost). I get the same image time after time when copying/
pasting various images from a website using Google Chrome, but it's
always the same size as the first one, instead of distorting into the
size/shape of the intended image as is the result of copying from IE8
and pasting into Office 2007.

One change I can think of is that I opened OneNote to see what the
program was all about. I've since disabled it so it doesn't start up
automatically and I do not use it. I was also having issues with Word
not closing properly. I disabled and/or removed all COM addins and I
think that fixed that problem. I had hoped it would fix this issue as
well but it has not.

Another thing, which I thought maybe was the cause of the COM addin/
Word crashing thing was this:

I had installed Adobe Acrobat Professional v9 trial version, which
uninstalled my v8 version. When the trial expired, I had a bugger of a
time reinstalling the original version. It was around that time I
started having problems with Word crashing and this copy/paste issue.

Thank you,
Jodi

Very strange. Since you were installing/uninstalling things around that
time, perhaps the Office installation got messed up. Have you tried to
repair the Office installation itself by re-running setup?

I have the exact same problem here with a Windows Vista computer and Office
2007 SP2 (swedish).

I can copy/paste different pictures between IE 8 and Wordpad. No problem
But in Outlook I can only use the first copy/paste picture. If I try
another picture I still get only the first one if I paste it in Outlook.

It's a new HP Laptop and the video drivers should be new.
