John:

I tried to email you, but I guess you use the same trick I do!! 8>)

I have a couple of questions about AlacrityPC. It runs fine, but I'm
unclear on a couple of points. I did get the user manual, but I'm not
seeing what I need.

If you could help, I'd appreciate it. If you want to use email, I'm @
That_Guy_Ed<at>g_mail<.com> (but you need to remove all three
underscores and the tag brackets). Else the NG is fine.

Unasked questions rarely get answers. ;-)

Want to expand? I know it seems generally off-topic for this board - but I
cannot be sure without more clarification.

Some people think Usenet is their personal, private consultant.

News flash 2 - Yes, it is part of Usenet.
Just because Microsoft is getting out of Usenet, does not cancel Usenet.
This and other newsgroups not on the Microsoft Usenet server still exist,
just not accessible on the Microsoft server.

Microsoft newsgroups was never a part of Usenet up until now that Usenet carries the
cancelled groups on their servers. Get your fact correctly. The alt. groups are
Usenet.

Anything posted on a NNTP server is Usenet.
Looks like Microsoft propaganda has done a good job on you though.

What John said was correct.
The MS newsgroups are Usenet newsgroups (and still available if you access
them on some other nntp server, since MS has dropped carrying them). Or
are we playing semantics games here?

Have you been listening to MEB ?
Newsgroups are Usenet
Forums can be Microsoft (Or any one who wants to host one)
Best explanation of Usenet I have seen :
http://encyclopedia.vbxml.net/Usenet
Extract from the above site :
"effective July 31, 2010, citing Google Groups as an alternative.
Microsoft announced that it would discontinue support for its
public newsgroups (msnews.microsoft.com)
from June 1, 2010, offering web forums as an alternative.

As further "proof" I am replying to my own post without using the ms
usenet server, but my ISP server (NNTP)
(Among other Usenet servers that still carry the "microsoft.public" Usenet
news groups)
