Photoshop CS5 demonstrates its stunning new party piece!

So far in my experience you can't do it with CS5 either!
Use an image like in the demo and try to replace an area of flare or a cloud
against a bland sky.
In my admittedly limited experience with CS5 over the last few days if you
try to remove a cloud or an area of flare from an expanse of sky there will
always be some artifact or color mismatch that is pretty obvious.
Note that in that demo they never enlarge the image so you can inspect
whether the sky filling where the cloud used to be matches the rest of the
image.
Its not that content aware fill does not work at all its just that it does
not perform the miracles implied by the demo.
The demo should have emphasized how effective it can be removing smaller
objects from complex backgrounds. In one instance I was duly impressed at
how content aware fill recreated a portion of a river bank after using the
tool to remove an object that was over the river edge in the foreground.

So you're saying that because you can't do it then it can't be done, is
that correct?

Where is the original of this thread?
I have just downloaded 10830 Headers, going back to September 2009 trying to
locate it- but no luck.
Nothing more is available.

As far as replacing content, a bit of careful cloning/selecting/copy&paste
will do the same.
At a glance, the content aware filter appears similar to Alien Skin's Image
Doctor>Smart Fill (on steroids!).

Brilliant, thanks for that.

Just as I thought .. a bit of expert cloning etc will do the trick ;-)

But not as easily nor as fast as when using the content fill tool. That
is the idea behind the implementation of the content fill tool.

Yep. That is true. The 'Content Fill' was designed so clueless
users with no skills can achieve fair results with one-click.

That should work out pretty good for you when you buy your PS
CS5 upgrade........

"........As usual, Photoshop doesn’t come cheap. CS5 is $699
for the full version, or $599 for an upgrade from previous
versions.".....WooHoo!!!!! Big saving for the upgrade version.

OK...start writing checks.....$600 for each and every one of
your 9 PCs you will install it on.....so what's the total
you'll spend on this one ? ........$1200....$1800...

Over "content fill"? He shouldn't be. There is an old Gimp
plugin that does the exact same thing. Both variants tend to
fall down badly under similar conditions.

What the fascination with me ? Are you my gay stalker...sure
seems like it. You really are wishing I was gay. Well, I'm
not. Sorry.

As for the TV's...I don't care. I don't care about anything
you spend your money on.

The plug-in for GIMP s free by the way.

That is because it is worthless.
