Suddenly my system has become very slow/freezes when using either Photoshop
Editor or Canon DPP. I can work with the first picture without a problem but
when I try to work with a second my system locks up for about a minute then
unlocks. This happens in both Photoshop and Canon editing. I have tried
defragmenting, registry cleaner, virus scans, etc. and no problems were
noted. Everything else seems to be working fine and this problem just
started out of nowhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

usually there is a big demand
for memory and disk space
when working with pictures
and images.

as such, windows usually tries
to compensate for the demand
by increasing the virtual memory.

---------------

however, what I would try first
is to disable your startups to get
them out of memory.

with more memory and no third
party programs that could be
interfering with your graphics
program,

a better assessment of the issue
can be ascertained.

-------------

incidentally, how much ram do
you have?

How much RAM? How big is the pagefile? How much RAM do you let Photoshop
control? Processor speed?
Your experience is best described as the processor is waiting for some
resource (probably scratch space).
What you have done so far was way down on the list of probable causes.
