Easier ? What does that mean ? Are the *programs* easier to
use ? I don't see why anyone would have a problems using a GUI
program under any OS, unless they are a complete retard.
Firefox under Linux works (and looks) exactly like the Windows
version......Thunderbird, the same. Word and the OO word
processor operate identically, the CAD programs all works the
same as the Windows counterparts (except for AutoCAD, which is
the only one I've used that have a usable command line. You
can have one hand on the keyboard and one on the mouse, and
enter 1 and 2 letter commands instead of having to wildly move
the mouse everywhere picking things off toolbars).

Is it easier to troubleshoot ? Maybe not, but I'll let you
know when I run across a problem that isn't solved after 5
minutes of Googling.

> Is
> Ubuntu easier to update than windows?

It is the same, except with Ubuntu, all the apps are updated
as well, any apps installed using the package manager anyway.
You don't have 20 f'n programs all wanting to run their own
update services and programs and auto-updateing individually,
even though you tell them not to.

I don't know. What is every pertinent software related to
business? Will a MAC run every pertinent business software out
there?

Why would you even ask that ? Will Windows run my C64 or Amiga
s/w ? (w/o some type of third-party emulator)

Do you know all hackers in the entire world and what they are
working on ? IMO, the true 'hackers', the ones that aren't in
it for the money, to show that (whatever) can be done, would
get a great deal of satisfaction in writing the first
successful Linux virus.

No, we don't know for a *fact*. That is your opinion.

The only *fact* I know, is I've cleaned countless Windows PCs
of malware, over and over and over again.

While there have been proof-of-concept virii, nothing has ever
been active out in the wild, infecting Linux boxes as we
speak. (......by taking advantage of some vulnerability and
not being compromised because of a weak/no password.)

Call it security by obscurity if you want, but that doesn't
diminish the fact that Linux is very secure.

No, no one knows anything like that as a *fact*. You can
speculate, you can guess, you can offer an educated guess, you
can voice your hypothesis, but none of those are facts.

Because developers haven't dropped 32bit yet. If they stopped
compiling to 32-bit, we'd all be forced to use 64 bit now
wouldn't we.........

Who mentioned anything about Firefox or Thunderbird? Most people do not use
those programs. The more advanced user's may but not most people

Go pick the lock on your front door and tell me how much satisfaction you
get. When you are done then go pick the lock on Fort Knox and tell me how
you feel

Pretty shallow mind to use that response. Purpose written malware is taking
a hammer to a glass window and then try a windshield? both will break but
differently!

Means absolutely nothing. Do you know for a fact that it is any better than
windows at stopping malware or virus's specifically written for it?

How do you know how secure it is? Once again do you know for a fact that it
is any better than windows at stopping malware or virus's specifically
written for it?

Therein lies a problem now doesn't it. How can technology truly advance if
developers keep compiling to 32 versus making the jump to 64 then 128

I do not know why I even bothered to reply to Numbnut's post. He has been,
He is and will always be nothing but a little man who does nothing all day
but post Bullshit about a operating system he knows nothing about!. If He
knew something about it he would be hanging out in their newsgroups helping
those people. You cannot tell me it is because he is trying to tell people
about Ubuntu because this is not the place to do it. If he was so confident
in Ubuntu he would be putting ads in newspapers and on television or posting
it all over the web instead of just this little newsgroup. 10 years from now
Ubuntu or whatever variation of it will still be a fleck on the desktops of
the world! Care to come back in 10 years and discuss it Numbnuts! I doubt
you will because you will be too busy coming up with excuses as to what went
wrong!

False. I find it much easier even though I used Windows since 1992. In
fact, a lot is quite similar between the two.

With Ubuntu, all you need to do is click on one little orange icon to
update *everything* installed in your computer.

I do admit that Windows is better for games, it being a toy operating

No, it isn't. Name a program that is used widely that doesn't have an
equivalent or the same program in Ubuntu.

Haha, ain't that the truth! You -n- me both. As I stated before, Winders
machines are a cash cow for me with the CONSTANT infections. We are not
talking about just careless users here, but infections that don't get
caught by Winders OR AV. Bam! Infected, completely bypassing everything
and installing themselves regardless. Simple as that. YES! "Over, and
over, and over again." Eset nod32, Avast, AVG, Webroot, Nortons, MacFee,
etc, etc, etc. I have cleaned machines with all of them and others
installed where they got completely bypassed, and then were UNABLE to
scan and eradicate the infection, or were completely disabled rendering
them useless altogether. Many machines get so infected, there isn't
really much of a choice but a complete restore. Actually as with MANY
techs anymore, unless the infection is VERY minor, the trouble to TRY
and clean a machine isn't worth it. I just do a full restore anymore.
(Saving what I can of course) A time or two of that and my clients are
eager to try a more secure OS!

I used to get an old lady whose computer got infected on a regular
basis. I installed Ubuntu for her in 2007. She hasn't had a problem
since. All she used the computer for was Windows Live Messenger, light
word processing, photos, web email and surfing the web. This is one of
the main reasons the MS techs hate Linux so much: if everyone were to
switch, all their business to clean Windows boxes of malware or
reinstalling Windows would be out the, well, window.

Plenty, particularly Vista but Win7 too..

From MS Technet:

"Regarding viruses, whatever could attack old versions of Windows will
pretty much work in Windows 7. Microsoft is planning on releasing a
free A/V program sometime in the near future, but it remains to be seen
if a) the general public will use it, and b) whether Microsoft will
properly maintain it with regards to keeping their virus signature files
up to date. If they do it right, you should expect signature file
updates at least once per day."

the quote comes from almost 1 yr ago.
And it is a statement that is simply not true...as has been proven.
Now, butt-munch, answer my question and be specific and NO GD LYING
ALLOWED...GOT IT!!!
Exactly how many computers running Vista/7 RTM have you "cleaned"?
Well....

He is quoting a statement by one person that is almost a year old, and
the statement is not true. I want him to tell us specifically, just how
many computers running Vista/7, the RTM release...how many has he "cleaned"?
