You'll be happy to know that OneNote 2010 will come with all versions
of Office 2010 when it's released. (Or so I'm told -- someone please
correct me if that's inaccurate.)
Also, you'll all be happy to note that as a 2010 "beta tester"
(meaning I downloaded it from the public site just like everyone else)
I received an email asking me to take a survey about how I like the
2010 product. There were LOTS of questions in the survey specifically
asking about my experiences with OneNote. In fact, there were no
other questions asking solely about OneNote. There WERE a few that
asked how I liked each component of Office -- PowerPoint, Word, etc.
-- but there were lots of questions asking specifics on OneNote. Seems
Microsoft is taking a serious interest in how people like this one
product, and I for one am very glad to see it!
OneNote was, in my opinion, a little-appreciated tool within the
Microsoft Office pantheon of products, akin to Mercury being only the
messenger of the gods and not on the level of Zeus (Excel) or Athena
(Word) -- you can flip those analogies if you like. Anyway, OneNote
is being promoted, as it were, and that's a good sign. We should see
much more traffic in here from new OneNote users once their numbers
increase and we start to find more people finding new uses for the
product. I'm greatly encouraged!
