Old installer problem

My software depends on a software from 2000.

The installer from this software has
16 bit components and does not run
on Windows 7 64 Bits.

I tricked with Laplink PC mover to install
this software on my new Windows 7 64 Bit notebook.

But this trick was very time consuming.

I have some clients using this software,
who will also change to 64 bit.

Is there some sort of standard software,
to do this task to install this software
withoug the original installer?

I don't have W64 installed myself but have you tried right clicking on
just the installer executable program, going to properties,
compatibility, and then telling it to install as W2000 or what ever it
was designed to use?
