Work? Yes, most of it will. But there are incompatibilities, and some
things won't work properly. You really shouldn't use any version of
Office other than 2003, 2007, or 2010 with Windows 7.

I've installed Office 2000 Professional on this new Win7 machine, and I
haven't found any problems yet. Using Word & Excel, with files dating from
1993 (that is - very old originals updated through various paths over the
years - Works 3, Office 95, Office 97, Office 2000; Win 3.1, Win 3.11, Win
NT, Win 2000, Win XP).

The only problem I'm aware of is older versions of Outlook not remembering
passwords in Windows 7. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. all seem to work fine.

I can tell you about one problem I'm aware of--Outlook won't remember
your password. I'm sure there are others, but I don't know their
details.

I was warned about problems in Outlook, wasn't told what they were, but was
advised not to use it. Since I don't use it anyway, it doesn't affect me.

Can you give some examples of things that don't work? I'm curious.

I already mentioned the only one I knew about, in Outlook. But there
are supposedly others, although I don't know what they are (and yes,
that means I might be wrong).
