Eh? Office 2007 has been available for at least two years - Office 2010 the
next release will be available shortly.
What did you mean by Office "7"?

No it is not available because retailers don't like selling old or
obsolete products for which there is no market.

The current version is Office 12 (aka Office 2007) and if you buy
it now and activate it soon, you will get a free upgrade to Office
2010 or Office 13 (or Microsoft might call it Office 14 because #
13 is bad for yanks!).

There is no product called Office 7, and there never will be. There
has been an Office 2007 for over three years (since November 6, 2006)
and Office 2010 (the latest release) has been available since April 15
of this year.

On average you get a new version every 3 to 4 years so you have a
long way to go. I suggest start getting used to what we have so
that the learning curve isn't so steep to make you look an idiot!
The youngsters won't be so tolerant with you when that time comes.

Still no such thing. Current version of Office is 2010 also known as Office
14.

I'm pretty up to date. Right now I'm using 2003, which is only
seven years back of the curve. Until a few months ago I was using
2000.

No. The "numbers" of Office versions have never "synchronised" with Windows
versions.

But why go back to Office 7 when version 14 was just released?

I've found it, Office95 included Word 7.0, Excel 7.0, PowerPoint 7.0,
Schedule+ 7.0 and Access 7.0 in the Pro version.

I thought they all had a version number, I have Office 2007 installed and
under "Program files\Microsoft Office" there is a folder called "Office
12". I've checked the file properties of Winword.exe, under the version tab
it says : Product name : 2007 Microsoft Office system
Product version : 12.0.6514.5000
