Office 2007 saved Files

It seems that all my 2007 files saved are half the size of the same 97-2003
files. When I try to upload to my web site they upload in zip format which I
can't read. Is there a setup somewhere that I have to go to in order to fix
this?

Office 2007 Word, Excel and Powerpoint use a new, XML-based file format.

"Introducing the Office (2007) Open XML File Formats"
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa338205.aspx

If you wish, you can convert files in Office Open XML (OOXML) to the earlier
binary format, known as Office 97-2003 format. You can also set Word, Excel
and Powerpoint to save in the old binary format by default.

One of the advantages of OOXML is improved ease-of-access to the raw data in
the file. Depending on what your website is doing with the Office files, you
may learn to like the new format.

Depending in the contents, that may well be.

That seems unlikely. What's VERY likely is that when you click a link to them,
they DOWNLOAD back to your PC or others' as ZIP files.

Have a look here for more info on that:

Office files don't download correctly from a Web Server; saved as zip files
instead
