Office 2007 was working normally but now applications crash when attempting
to OPEN a file and use SAVE AS and similar commands.
Uninstalling and reinstalling solves the problem initially and until service
pack 1 or 2 is applied when the problem returns.
There was talk of an HP problem but inspection of the registry shows that
all Knowledge Base recommended keys exist with the correct values.
