office 2007 cannot defrag

I have home office 2007. When I try to defrag a box opens which says ;Disk
fragmenter has detected a Chkdsk is scheduled to run on the volume c. Please
run Chkdsk /f., When i run Chkdskm a screen opens fo a second and then
closes.

Cardelli,

Defragmenting a disk is not a Microsoft Office issue, it is an Operating
system function.

If it says that Chkdsk is "scheduled to run", then it will begin during boot
up. Restart your computer so Chkdsk can run on the C drive. Once complete,
retry defrag.
