Oddity in the Recycle Bin

Windows XP Home Edition SP3
Internet Explorer 8

Doing routine maintenance this evening I got rid of several small videos and
mpegs which I'd uploaded to you-tube; I emptied the recycle bin and then
defragged and when the defrag finished I noticed there was still something in
the recycle bin. I first double-left clicked rb, and it showed nothing. Then
I right clicked and clicked "open" and it still showed nothing even though on
the desktop recycle bin icon showed something. So, I clicked "Empty Recycle
Bin" and was asked "Are you sure you want to delete 'Windows'?" Naturally I
hit "cancel" and the icon on the desktop still shows something in recycle bin.

Anybody know whassup??

perhaps, you might find
a clue if you right click
on the recycle bin and
explore and /or review
the properties page.

I have seen this happen in various versions of Windows. The recycle bin get's confused and the only solution I
have ever found was to reboot.

Wacky Windows!

Today when I logged on the recycle bin still showed contents just like
yesterday; I went on about my business, and eventually got rid of some more
files via recycle bin, three to be exact. Instead of the usual "empty" option
I deleted each of the three new files individually; once the third was
deleted the desktop icon showed no more contents. Weird. I guess, as you say,
it was just "confused".
