I replaced an EPSON RS630 (IIRC), that worked great, and an HP 4L that was a
work-horse for years, with an HP Officejet Pro 8500, I thought it would be a
good printer to do color and cheaper than a laser (so they claim). Probably
had 20-30 hours invested to get it to work on network, their tech support
could not get it to work. The 8500 quit just after it went out of warranty,
constant paper-jam error. Binged the problem and got appx 20K hits just for
that one problem. Worked through all fixes-no go, contacted tech support and
went through all their fixes (some were repeats)- no go. Took their offer
for a refurbished at reduced price, got it last night. Been trying to get it
to work since this morning and no go. Will print test page manually, the
install software can see printer, IP address, MAC address, but won't
communicate with it.
Printer is setup on same router with same settings and won't work. Contacted
router tech support, they gave me a tip, won't work.
I agree with you wholeheartedly, HP printers are a POC. I will probably
never buy another HP printer.
