Not a XP update for a while now.....Is this normal?

I am pretty use to getting a few updates for windows XP each week. I have
gotten nothing for a little while now. How normal is this? Is a new service
pack comming?

I have been tweaking my computer recently and am a bit worried. Yes I admit
it. But my system runs fine and windows update site keeps checking and
telling me there are no new updates.

Whole raft of them 2 weeks ago...nothing of importance since.

You worry too much.

Patches are issued on Patch Tuesday, the second Tuesday of the month. That
means April 13th should be the next batch. Wait until the end of the day,
and check to see what has arrived.

I think a couple months ago, there were a whole bunch, while last month
there might have been one security one.

Sometimes there is the odd out-of-band one. A while ago, I think I checked
and there was an update for my ancient Internet Explorer.

So check on the 14th and see what is pending then.

I believe one of the regulars here, is on the inside track, and knows
how many items might show up on the Patch Tuesday. So someone else
may be able to tell you more precisely, what to expect.

Thanks for the replys.

I didn't know there was only one day in a month usually that had the
updates. I may have forgotten this. I thought it was every tuedsay or
something. Had to ask because some weeks I would usually get one or two
updates a week. This is the first dry spell I'v noticed.

I'm not on automatic updates, and I only check with Microsoft on Patch
Tuesday. So maybe 24 hours from now, I'll run the Windows Update and see
what is waiting. If you're on automatic updates, it is possible for
them to dribble in as they're released. I try not to automate that sort
of thing, with any software provider (any update here is done manually).
And even when Patch Tuesday rolls around, I sometimes wait for a day or two,
for the reports from people who had problems. The last significant problem,
was people who had a root kit running on their computer, and one of the
Microsoft updates, conflicted with the technique the root kit was using.
But it wasn't known initially, why that update was causing problems. But
after a few days, some clever people figured it out.

You can check for Windows Updates whenever you like.

And don't expect any more XP service packs.

And be happy, don't worry...

There are not a few updates each week. The second Tuesday of each month is
when they are released.
