no backup while sleeping?

win 7 backup will not run while my computer is sleeping. So what is the
point of being able to set it to run at a midnight hour?
I have it set to run on Sunday night and it always runs Monday morning when
I need my computer the most. Most of the time I just turn it off defeating
the purpose of course. Why can't they have the backup wake up the computer?

I cannot answer this question directly, but this might be a clue for
you.

I schedule my backups (and other tasks) using the Windows Task Scheduler.
The Properties page for each Task Scheduler task has a tab named
Conditions. On this pane, there is a checkbox for "Wake the computer to
run this task." I vaguely recall that this checkbox is not set by default.

If you can find a scheduled task that implements your backup job, then
I suggest that you inspect all of its "Properties."

On Win 7/64 I use Karen's Replicator, free at

I second this advice.
