nimber of playlsits in wmp 11

I can only see 5 playlists in the left column. Is that the limit that I can
create?

No, you can create as many playlists as you want, but WMP will only show
5 by default. To make it show all playlists, right-click the Playlists
item and select Show All.

You can also view all playlists in the library's main list, by simply
clicking on the Playlists item.
