Hi, while tinkering in the innards of IE8 and OE6 I've changed a setting
that allowed OE6 to refresh the newsgroups messages when I was viewing them.
The only bad thing about this refresh of the message was that when it
completed it would take you to the beginning of the message and you would
have to scroll down to where you had been, or start reading again.

Whatever I have changed has stopped this behavior from happening, however
without the refreshing, after a short period of inactivity you are
disconnected from the news server. I find that I lose less time when
reading messages if I am able to stay connected to the news server and
tolerate the message refresh that starts over at the beginning of the
message.

I would like to get the refresh behavior of refreshing the messages to stay
connected to the news server enabled again. Can anyone tell me what this
setting change is or where I would begin to search? For me goggle did not
help.

Thanks for any help

Two things:

1) Tools, Options, General, Check for new messages every xx minutes
2) Tools, Accounts, News, Properties, General, Include this account when
checking

News servers generally have an idle disconnect setting of around 10 to
20 minutes. The news server administrator sets that.

SOLVED: Thank you both 'From TheRafters' and Michael Santovec. My Newsgroup
message Refresh has returned. No more disconnects from the NNTP Server.
Thanks again.
