Thanks, all the blurb I read from Microsoft "forums" on it, kept referring
to NNTP capability being "built in" for Microsoft news server, with no
mention of Usenet :)

Tools, Message Filters, select relevant group, add one or more filters,
for each filter match on one or more criteria and specify one or more
actions ...

But they are far more limited for news messages than they are for emails....

You will notice that I did originally say TB filtering was poor compared
to other newsreaders ...

You can use WLM for any news servers/accounts that you care to set up. It's
very similar to OE in most respects. I use WLM with
news.eternal-september.org. The account is free, but registration is
required.

NNTP is the protocol for Usenet.

Excellent thanks. I expect that the no-help feature is because Microsoft
wants newsgroups to die out.

The Netbook I just bought came with WLM pre=loaded.
I managed to get my e-mail up and running, but, will have to fiddle with
it more.
Somehow can't find how to get back to a view that shows the folders (in
box etc) and it opens up with a "Contacts" view.
Still looking for a "layout" option that lets me choose options etc.
It seems to be complying with Windows7 and hides things from us mere
mortals :)

My next "hurdle" is to put Outlook 2010 on "She Who Must Be Obeyed" WinXP
computer, so that she can "Sync" contacts/calendar etc with her new iPAD.
Not looking forward to the learning curve of changing from OE to Outlook
though.
