Need help with HDD IDE connector

I'm Jsexton3. I own a now deceased Compaq M2010 I bought at Staples about 5 years ago. I joined this forum to get info on the IDE connection for the hard drive. I bought an adapter/case so I could connect the HDD to my desktop via USB and rescue my data. The case/USB adapter has a standard 2.5" IDE female connection. Unfortunately, the HDD's male IDE has two rows of pins, but one is set back about 1/8" from the other, so I can't get both sets of pins into the female connector. Does anyone know if there is an adapter that can be placed between the two connectors to make a proper connection?
