I posted a message around 10:00 this morning, and it has vaporized,
apparently...

I will know in the future to compose in notepad, since I don't have enough
battery power to re-type it at this moment...

Use a newsreader instead, if you want to post to this newsgroup. The so
called "forum" is just a web based front end, and somewhat problematic.

I have to log in to get to the "Forum", do I need to do that with the
newsgroups? I haven't used them since 2000 or so...

Nope, if you double-click the link below you should have Outlook Express
fire up, and then set it up the way you want and you are good to go again.

Of course, if you're using Vista or Windows 7, Outlook Express is no longer
an option. In Vista, Windows Mail--OE's successor--comes with. In Windows 7,
you'd need to install either Windows Live Mail or another program that
supports newsgroups.

Yes, this is a Windows 7 computer, and I found this problem when I tried to
get to a newsgroup...I used OE in the old days.

Thanks to you and Bob for your help...funny how some post POST and some
don't...

Sorry to vent here, but what is Microsoft thinking? Are they trying to
discontinue free support for their products? If I cannot solve this one FREE,
I will spend the $99 on Wordperfect Office, not another MS Office product or
PAY for support for something as simple as "cannot upgrade MS Works on the
new POS computer or get rid of the Non-Commercial stamp when I OWN Small Biz
Office! "

I could not believe that they had discontinued Microsoft Mail in Win7!!! If
they are going to do that, why not at least have OUTLOOK support the
newsgroups, it does everything else!

No, Firefox doesn't support newsgroups. It's just a browser. Unless, of
course, you're talking about accessing the newsgroups via the clunky web
interface.

If you're looking for a newsreader, such as was availble in OE, you can use
Mozilla Thunderbird email/newsgroup client.

No, you can use any newsreader you want. It's just that most folks
already had Outlook Express on their PC. Please remember we can only go
by what you tell us, or we have to guess based on past practice and
likelyhood. You'll need to install one. You can choose what you want, I
use Thunderbird myself.

Hey Piggy,

The OP said: "My post is not showing up on the forum". Now which particular
word you didn't understand to make silly comments like: "No, Firefox doesn't
support newsgroups" Are you bonkus?

To get rid of the "Non-commercial stamp" you will need to UNinstall the
trial version of office 2007 and the activation assistant. But since you
also have installed Small business Office you will need to uninstall
that first and then get rid of the trial stuff and then reinstall the
Small Business.

Not at all ... you just can't use an MS supplied email app.

Several browsers support newsgroups; Opera's free and has a decent
newsgroup/email/RSS reader.

There's also a web view of the newsgroup content; it ... um ... doesn't suck
as much as it used to.
