MS Notepad Does Not Display Line Numbers

See Subject. I put together a 6 line file, and Edit would show Goto
greyed out. What's wrong?

The option "Go To" will be enabled only if the word wrap option is disabled.
Go to the format menu and click on Word Wrap option to uncheck it, now the
"Go to" option will be enabled.

Nothing - notepad never supported line numbers. Try notepad2.exe -
http://www.flos-freeware.ch.

Cursor position (Line Number and Column number) is displayed on the
Status bar if WordWrap is not enabled.

The program is garbage.

Try metapad lite OR full - lite is free and IGNORES the
insert/overwrite nightmare - its best (but not only) unique and
fantastic feature. Full has no file size limits and a few
features but DOES recognize the insert/overwrite thing. Go
figure. So I use both depending on what I'm doing.

Edxor is unbeatable for serious work. Free.

Has ANYONE?

They /are/ very good at generating vast wealth, if you judge

Hmmm, mine didn't seem to. So this should work across reboots? I see
that it's working now though.

Sure.
See the poll in February's PC World. Most users really like Win 7. Most
users liked XP. A few users even liked Vista.

Personally, my current MS Wireless keyboard is the best keyboard I've
ever used. "Ever" goes back to typewriters...

The ULTIMATE authority. Sigh. Polls. Read "How To Lie with
Statistics".

Does the poll state the percentage of people who hung up when
the words "Microsoft" or "poll" were mentioned?

The ORIGINAL MS Mouse was THE best mouse ever. Their kbds are
decent. Note they only make hardware which the user /has to
directly interface with/. Therefore it is clearly an carefully
planned part of their monopolistic and "one world, one(...)"
approach.

Lots of people like Pepsi and Corona and whisky and root beer,
none of which I can keep in my mouth for longer than 2 seconds.

As for "most users" liking Win 7 and Vista, "most" people in the
world are stupid. I try to keep whatever intelligence I was born
with. Losing grey cells due to aging is bad enough.

My reply was to the questions:
>>>> Have you ever said anything good about M$ products?
>>> Has ANYONE?

The answer, as I tried to point out, was Yes. And even you admit that
the original MS mouse was the best mouse ever.

MS has never made PC's, though, which I think is a pretty smart move.

Notepad is better than Edit, which was much better than Edlin, if you
can remember back to 1983.

I'm a martini person myself!

There is a *freeware* "Notepad++" (OpenSource) text editor that has
line numbering, WYSIWYG (which MS Notepad is not), and much more. Home
URL below:

http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/site.htm

Look at the screenshots page. I highly suggest this for ANYONE.

Very good for someone who needs to write script codes without a
special editor.
