Moving files without getting error messages

Usually I can move mp3 files to different folders (within explorer), and
windows media player will automatically amend the file path. Sometimes
though, it doesn't pick this up and gives a blue exclamation mark with an
error (wmp cannot locate this file). I can't work out what I've done
differently, but it's very annoying having to add them all again. Any ideas?

What version of WMP/Windows?

If it's WMP 11 or lower, you can press F3 in WMP to bring up the Add To
Library-dialog. Click OK and wait until it finishes, that should correct
the file paths of moved files.
