1) Desktop icon size. I have them set as small as I can. I go to control
panel-display, shoose Smaller. And I still have these big oversized icons
on my desktop (compared to how small they were under XP). How do I make
them smaller?

2) Control Panel. Where is the detailed line view? My choices are large
icons or small icons. I don't want no stinkin' icons, just give me the list
like we have had for the last fifteen years.

I don't know how small your small is but try this:

Click anywhere on the desktop, hold down the CTRL key, then roll the mouse
wheel back and forth until you find the size icon you like.

2) Unfortunately, I haven't found any way to pick List or Details, but
selecting Category gives a nice look at it, much better than either icon
selection IMHAWO.

I use the Category View, it's much easier on the old eyes :)

Ahhh...beautiful! That worked most excellently. tyvm!

My quess is that Win7 defaults to a rather large icon size for hires
monitors so that you don't get these little tiny icons. I prefer the
smaller icons.
