Messenger e-mail inbox open in new window...

Good day, all.

About four times a year I try and see if I can get Messenger to act the way
I want it to act. This has been going on for years.

When clicking on the Messenger icon for the e-mail inbox, it always opens it
in a new tab on my Start page. My IE7, (ver. 7.0.6002.18005) opens with three
"Home Pages" in three different tabs.

If I click on a link in one of my Start page Tabs, and open that link in a
new window, stop it from loading up, and making sure that new window I just
opened (with that one tab that I stopped from loading) is on top.

I then bring up Messenger, ver. 2009 (Build 14.0.8089.726) and click the
icon in Messenger to open the inbox, it will ALWAYS go back to the original
"Home Page, (with the three tabs) and open a new tab to load up the inbox.

I think I just confused everyone out there, cause that sure gave me a
headache... heh

My Home Page Tabs contain, one, a "Tools" screen from my ISP, two and three,
different news sites.

I usually load up several pages (create a new Tab) and soon find that I have
pushed Messenger inbox off the page. Have to use the "Arrows pointing right
to get to the inbox or use the down button on the left of the first tab.

I know that using the arrows do not take up a bunch of time or is hard, but,
my Messenger inbox also have several news sites that I visit. I would like
this to be separate from each other.

In other words, have Messenger icon open my e-mail inbox in a new window.

I am fully updated with software definitions and hardware devices, Windows,
everything...

What, if anything, can I do to to make the Messenger icon open my inbox in a
new window?

I have used a trick I found on here doing a Search. Involved Tools>Internet
Options>Tabbed Browsing Settings. I unchecked "Open new tabs next to the
current tab"

I checked the button to "Always open pop-ups in a new window."

I generally keep my Pop-Up blocker on. But have turned it off when I want to
open my inbox.

Nothing I have tried nor nothing I have read, works

I can usually get my way around a computer, but every now and then, I have
to come here to get some Expert help. Y'all have never failed me before, so
let's keep that 1000 batting average going.

Thanks in advance. Your help is always appreciated.

Dale

Always state your full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3; WinXP 64-bit SP2;
Vista SP1; Vista 64-bit SP2) as well as your IE version when posting in an
IE-specific forum or newsgroup. Please do so in your next reply.

What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your
subscription current? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)?
What third-party firewall (if any)?

Has a(another) Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on the
computer (e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought
it)?
