Media Player Stops Playing All Video

Can anyone think why WMP would suddenly stop playing video? Program
still comes up, I can hear the sounds but all I see is the note and get
no picture.

It was fine 2 days ago, shark codec pack was installed and it was
playing avi, wmv, mkv no problem. Suddenly yesterday I try to play
something and now its just the note, even if I try something I know
played before.

But VNC works fine, like nothings changed. Plays everything. Ive
uninstalled and reinstalled the codecs with reboots in between, ive gone
to the windows component panel and removed and added it back to W7, with
reboot in between.

What else can I do? Is there a way of completely reinstalling wmp
without messing up W7?

You can remove and reinstall Windows Media Player:
Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a program
In the left pane ' Turn Windows features on or off'
Media Features
Windows Media Player.
If that doesn't work what about a System Restore back a couple of days?
