Strange behavior of Windows Media player 12. I have a dual boot system
XP/Windows 7, in both of the systems I have WMP12, the only difference
between the two systems, for what concerns media, is that W7 has also
Cyberlink DVD suite. The problem that occurs is the following: if I insert an
original audio CD in W7 media player goes through the first 5 songs in a few
seconds and then stops withou plaing any sound. The same CD can be played
with the Cyberlink player or imported and played by iTunes. On the other
side, if I play wav, mp3 or wma files WMP12 works perfectly. Under XP I have
no problem at all. I tried disabling WMP12 as suggested in some MS forums,
rebooting and re-enabling WMP, but the result is the same. Any suggestions on
how to repair WMP12.
Thanks in advance.

I think you described a problem with Ripping CDs rather than actual
playback, am I right ?

If so, head to the Options menu in WMP7 : Click the small dropdown
menu labelled "Organize", choose Tools -> Options -> Devices.

Double click the CD/DVD drive shown there, and make sure it's set to
Digital for both Rip and Playback, and that error correction is
checked.
