Lost "home" icon or tab

Before having Google as my home page, there was an icon or tab with a
little house on it that said "home" & would take me to my home page.
Now it is gone, so if I exit or close a web page, I am back on my desk
top & off the web. How can I restore the little house?
Thanks in advance of your help,
Judy

Rightclick the toolbar, select Customize Command Bar, Add or Remove
Commands and add the Home button to the current toolbar buttons
(may vary slightly with different IE versions)
