Run this.

c:/windows\system32\control userpasswords2

You can then uncheck the item.

There are a number of very useful utilities for Win7 (32 and 64 bit_)
on the net. But none that of know of will enable boot without
entering the password.

This is a different way of getting to the same dialog as NETPLWIZ,
that I told the OP about a week ago. The OP seems to be under the
misconception that this does something different than what the old XP
TweakUI did. Perhaps this will help to correct that misconception.

Remember from My Fair Lady "I think she's got it - by George, she's got it"
(approximately)?

Looks like it doesn't apply here :)

You see the old XP TweakUI auto-logon would actually ask for the account
password that you want to auto-logon to the first time, and then it
would store it privately there-after. That's how it used to auto-logon.
It didn't turn off security for all accounts by default.

Oh, okay, the description in the wizard itself made it sound like it was
disabling the passwords completely. Very ambiguous wording.

NETPLWIZ does exactly the same thing as XP TweakUI. It asks for the
password for the account you want to auto log on and stores it
privately. It does not turn off security for all accounts. Try it
and see.

Sometimes, I wonder why I don't just give up and leave them to their
misconceptions, but I can't help myself...

Self discipline, that's what you need. Or Xanax (tm) :)

Me too.

I just looked at the molecular diagram on Answers.com. It looks like a
possible precursor to methyl ethyl chickenwire.
