Personally, I don't feel it has anything to do with 'add-ons', virus
programs, etc...as my explorer only started doing this since it was UPDATED
by Microsoft this past week. Which would mean that Explorer 8 is not
compatible with one of the updates this past week. As I have run Norton 360
(full scan) also Micro's Security Essentials. I even had to go to a restore
point to get it to stop. Now I have to wait till Microsoft gets a fix.
Until then we are screwed. :)

You have N360 & Microsoft Security Essentials installed and you're wondering
what's wrong? Oh, my...

Can I install Microsoft Security Essentials [or any other
anti-virus/anti-spyware application] to clean up my already-infected
computer?

Did you have enough common sense to shut down Norton 360 before you
downloaded the updates, and uninstall said updates if you were having
problems?

I too noticed a very slow Internet Explorer 8 after downloading it.
I would have reverted back to Internet Explorer 6 but there is much todo
about possible holes that could allow hackers or somebody so I didn't do it.
I too sent in to this site for a solution.
I too received an answer asking if I had installed any add ons.
So, I responded that I didn't know what an add on was, I simply down
loaded Internet Explore 8. It is so slow I can almost drink a cup of coffee
while waiting for it to load.
Does anyone honestly think that Internet Explorer will ever fix this problem
or are they going to let the customer gain patience with the problem.
If no one has a quality or a good answer than they should not respond to
these questions, giving the impression that they know how to fix it.
I would revert to Internet Explorer 7 but I read horror stories about it.
Evidently the problem is not wide spread or it would be addressed often.

Oh yes, I should tell you that I have since found out about add ons by other
help than I received here.
At the time I downloaded Internet Explorer 8, it was a naked download.
Nothing added. Later after all the updates were installed I added McAfee
Site Advisor. Then I added Google for search.
Pretty much bare. But nothing I added slowed it down any more that it
already
was.
for shame....
