Internet Explorer 8 links issue

    Hi All!

I have a simple website I created using Windows Publisher. Up until I installed Internet Explorer 8, I've had no problems with it whatsoever. I installed IE8, and next thing you know, whenever I go to the website, the links that normally appear on the left hand side of the webpages are gone! I used IE7 on another computer to check out the website, and the links are there and I can surf to other pages with no difficulties! Is there any changes I can make to IE8 - I used pretty much the default settings...

    Thanks

    Hi,

Do a web search for MS Publisher IE8 XP

    or try the

    microsoft.public.publisher or microsoft.public.publisher NG's and search for
    IE8 threads.

Simple answer - markup from MS Publisher is not standards compliant. You
have to remove the MSO and VML conditional comments.

IE8 on Vista or Win7 is unaffected. <sigh>

    Regards.

If you are referring to the Navigation Pane in the Publisher page, it is
known that IE8 cannot render it if it is "grouped".

There is a technical explanation for it but I'm afraid it's beyond me.

Simple solution, "ungroup" the Navigation Pane. This can be done by
selecting it and then clicking on the "Ungroup" box that appears below it or
going to the menu - Arrange>Ungroup.

Don't forget to save and re-upload to FTP.

Some sites are not yet compliant with the new technology in IE8, so compatibility mode was included in IE8 to allow you to emulate IE7 or IE 6 to view the page. You could also make sure that the site is listed under your 'Trusted Sites' if you have secure browsing enabled. Here is a link to show you how to run IE8 in compatibility mode:
Some Web sites may not be displayed correctly or work correctly in Windows Internet Explorer 8
Hopefully one of these solutions will stop it from freezing

    Kyler,

The site was written with MS Publisher. Nothing to do with Compatibility.
