Incorrect Office Updates in Microsoft Update

Hello

I recently did clean installs of XP and Win7 on 2 different PCs. Each PC
was loaded with Office 2007. When I ran Microsoft Update after the Office
installs, it shows I needed Office 2007 SP1, not SP2. I manually downloaded
and installed Office 2007 SP2 and then checked Windows Updates for any
needed patches. It still showed I needed Office 2007 SP1...even though I
just installed SP2.

Does anyone know how to 1) have Office SP2 show up as a needed update
instead of SP1, and 2) how to configure Windows Update to show that no SP is
needed after SP2 is installed?

Perhaps the update process was corrupted. However, you could try to
uninstall the SP2 and then re-install (or some say install again) to
see if this fixes the problem. If it doesn't, then you need to clear
the SoftwareDistribution folder on C:/ Windows folder but first try
doing uninstall and re-install.

RUBBISH. SP1 is already included in SP2. Please refrain from
misinforming Microsoft Customers. This is not a s e x industry you are

MS, though, has this to say about it:

"Because Office service packs are cumulative, you do not have to install
Service Pack 1 before you install Service Pack 2. Service Pack 2 includes all
of the fixes that were included in Service Pack 1."

Can't help you on that one; I tend to let Windows Updates recommend whatever it
likes (and ignore it while I go and do whatever I feel I really *need*).

What happens if you download the Office SP2 update and apply it "manuallY"
rather than letting Windows Update handle things?

If you manually apply Office SP2, Windows Updates still reports SP1 needs to
be installed. It doesn't make any sense...

Personally I let MSUpdate do its own thing for critical updates

It doesn't. Simplest thing might be to go ahead and apply SP1 then SP2 in
order. See if making it happy makes it happy.
