I have been using MPNews on Windows XP for sometime so that I can create a permanent archive of selected news groups which I use for work. Now I want to upgrade to Win 7 and need an alternative to this software so I was hoping someone could recommend some News Server software. A couple of years ago MPNews was taken over by a company called MessagePixels and since then support has plummeted to virtually Nil so I want to change. I have tried googling and I keep getting a small number of old windows software which has been withdrawn by its company and is no longer available. Or there are results about Mail Server software but I don't want to setup a mail server. I don't need to hear about different companies providing News services (such as Astraweb) as this is where I get my feed from. I need to be able to have the server and messages on my system. Thank you

I'm not sure why you would need a news SERVER to do this....

I'm not sure why you would need a news SERVER to do this.... Because I need to access them from different PCs, my personal one and work laptops. When there is a problem with the work laptops the first support option is to reimage them and wipe all data that was there. Downloading again after this only gives me three months of news posts whereas I currently have 3 years worth stored on my MPNews system. Also as the number of messages increase the reader can get slow and unwieldy. I have over 100,000 posts from one source group alone that I have split into multiple groups in my MPNews server archive. Thanks
