IE7/Vista - freezes when loading pages from nytimes.com

This has just started in the last few days. It happened rarely if at all
previously. Typically I can load the nytimes.com home page, but if I click
on the link for an individual article it will start to load that page and
then freeze. Mouse pointer turns to the blue rotating circle and will stay
that way for a long time. The only way I've found to get out of this is to
call up Task Manager and end the task.

Would appreciate any advice about what might be causing this, and how to fix
it.

Thanks!

Hi Joe,

Tools>Compatibility View Settings, check "Include updated website lists from
Microsoft"
or
Tools>Compatibility View Settings, add nytimes.com to your compatibility
view list.

Regards.

My version of IE7 doesn't seem to have Compatibility View. Is CV only in
IE8? Am I missing something?

Thanks

Hi Joe,

Sorry about that. I did not read your subject line properly.

Try

Tools>Internet Options - Security tab, click "Reset all zones to default"

In your Trusted sites zone, if you already have http://www.nytimes.com in
the sites list, change it to *.nytimes.com

The site uses Flash, so if you already don't have it installed you can do so
from http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/

Before you do all that, go to http://www.enhanceie.com/ua.aspx and check
that your user Agent string is not corrupted. (It should have only on
occurrence of MSIE 7.0 in the string). On that page you will find
instructions to correct the issue. I am guessing that you may have MSIE 7.0
(MSIE 6.0...... in your browsers user Agent String.

Regards.
