Windows Server 2003 - IE 8 will not stay open. I have followed suggestions
to reinstall and to reset under the advanced tab but the situation is still
the same. Any help appreciated

What does the event log say about the problem?

IE 8 will take about 33,000 K of RAM when loading on Windows Server 2003.
You can watch IE 8 load into memory in the Task Manager when IE 8 starts up.
Have the Task Manager open, showing the Processes tab, then open IE 8. It
is named iexplorer.exe, so keep your eye on the Memory column where it will
appear alphabetically, as it loads. It may take a couple tries to watch it,
because it should load in 1 or 2 seconds.

On my Windows Server 2008, iexplorer.exe is listed twice (using about 5300 K
and 7800 K).
On my Windows Server 2003, iexplorer.exe is listed twice (using about 33,000
K and 14,000 K).
The amounts normally go down some after the loading process finishes.

You should see it start to load, and start taking memory, then disappear.
Does it get close to 33,000 K?

Also, you should be able to open Internet Options (Properties) from the
Control Panel. You can check out your settings and/or try different settings
to see if it makes a difference.

When you start Internet Explorer, it opens, flashes, and then closes
immediately:

Internet Explorer 7 [or 8] exits immediately when you start it in Windows XP
or in Windows Server 2003:
