IE 8 crashes on MS site

Hi,

You must be using the x64 version of IE. No problems here with Vista x86,
SP2.
or
You have disabled one of your required ActiveX controls for the site. Go
Tools>Manage Addons, Show - Downloaded controls and ensure all addons of
this type are enabled.

Hi Rob and thanks for the response. I've made sure all ad-ons of all
categories are enabled. I was actually using the regular IE that was
crashing. When I use the 64 bit, it does not crash, instead it gives me the
following error: An error was encountered during upgrade. If you are still
unable to play your content, additional help and support is available on
http://support.microsoft.com

I revisited the site and read the same instructions for x64 Vista users as
you did ....

I have to laugh.. the link to support.microsoft.com is all but useless,
isn't it?

codec package, live search it..
after that every file will work in your WMP11 or you can follow the above

I'm using a current Norton Security Suite. This includes a firewall and
anti-spyware tools. This application was not running when i installed IE8.
I installed Norton about 2 months ago. I have tried disabling all Norton
components and the site still won't work.

x64 users.

forum (if you don't get lost and wind up at the Win7/Internet Explorer like
every one else does) which is where(the Vista/Media forum) I found the

As I said, you can always go yourself to the Vista/Media forum and re-post
your question. (Good Luck...)... I just thought of a good idea for
Answers.... an "I feel lucky" button like google search.<laugh/>

Oh, one other thing. On Vista you can go Start>Control Panel>Problem Reports
and Solutions... there should be an issue log in there for your crash at the
site... We can tell you more if you post back with the details.

Hi Steve,

I am not going to peruse it any further... it is out of my league.

Append your problem signature to your Vista/Media Post if you have not
already done so.

Here is the Google search I did on a key term from that problem report.

Seems to be associated with a Camcord device. Do you have ANY usb devices
plugged in while trying to do that MS download and installation? Try
unplugging them all(safely). (Probably your iPod? or Zoon?) before
navigating to the download site.

Thank you both Rob and Bear. I deleted the DRM folder, and the DRM update
worked fine in IE w/out crashing. Now I can use the jump drive w/out WMP
crashing.
