Sorry but you just provided back up for my comment about NotePad. Just
to qualify, it does not render html.
Actually I don't think the problem is with Word per se. IE 8 is doing
something differently than FireFox. It is either corrupting what is
being placed on the clipboard or it is not parsing the code in the page
properly. I will concede that there is certainly something amiss with
the web site as well. Interestingly enough when I tried to paste copied
data from a different page (one that contained images) at that site in
to a Thunderbird e-mail the text was transferred but the images were
not. FireFox would do that, no problem
In searching the web for a solution I stumbled across several others
with the same issue but the problem was with different websites.
If I were an MSMVP I would certainly bring this issue up for discussion
with Microsoft just to track down the actual reason why a web browser
that otherwise works fine can mangle a simple operation like
transferring copied data to the clipboard which then causes Word to lock
up when said data is pasted in to it. And I'd do it quick before those
that are in denial about there screwed up website find and fix the
problem. Who knows it could even lead to a flaw which points to a
potential security breech.
I am not lauding Mozilla products over Microsoft stuff. I am just
pointing out what I see as a potentially serious flaw. Now if someone
pops in with a registry fix that actually works or some other repair
that cam be done I'll just use work-arounds for the time being. Actually
I won't because this was never my problem to start with. 'Twas that of a
friend.
