ICH10R patch?

    Hi All,

I have two of the same motherboards (Supermicro X8SAX). Both
have their BIOS set up for AHCI. One the one I have CentOS 5.4
(Linux) and the other I have XP-Pro-SP3. I have identical
removable SATA hard drive. Both BIOS's are the same revision.

On the Linux machine I can unmount, swap, remount all day
long and have done so. Linux acts like they are USB sticks.

Now, on the other hand, the XP machine will occasionally
freeze up when remounting a disk (I use HotSwap!-5.0.0.0
to unmount). This is easily reproduced by shutting the
computer down, removing the drive, booting back up, and
shoving the drive back in the hole.

This is leading me to thing that there is some incompatibility
with XP and ICH10R. Anyone know how to stop the freezing?
Is there a patch specifically for AHCI ICH10R?

    Many thanks,
    -T

Think I figured this out. When installed at power off, one
of the backup disks mounts as E: and DVD as D:. Other other
mounts as D: and the DVD as E:. "Hot swapping" the backup
disks caused them to try to mount on top of the DVD. And
the system froze up. Also, powering up with no backup drive
in the sleeve and inserting the drive that uses the same
letter as the DVD also causes a freeze.

So, I went into the drive manager and told the DVD
it was now drive L:. I also told the backup drive
with D: that it had to be E:.

Seems to have fixed the problem. Just a bug in XP.

p.s. Cobina Backup 10 now allows you to use the
backup drive's label in place of the backup drive's
    letter. Cool stuff!
